Explore the birds of the beautiful rivers Orwell and Stour with experts from Swallow Birding.
- Start date: 02/10/2022 10:30 am
- Duration: 6 Hours
- Sailing from: Harwich
A really interesting day sail, exploring the Rivers Orwell and Stour with experts on board from Swallow Birding to help you spot and identify the huge numbers of winter birds that visit the rivers Orwell and Stour. One day is from Ipswich and the other from Harwich. From Ipswich you will enjoy going under the Orwell bridge, past Woolverstone, Pin Mill – one of the most painted places on the East Coast, and to Shotley near the mouth of the river, with it’s old naval training buildings. You head past Felixstowe with it’s huge container ships and cranes and then through Harwich Harbour and into the River Stour. The Stour is a very pretty river with sights such as the fantastic architecture of the Holbrook Royal Hospital School, Grayson Perrys’ Dream House and the grand beach huts at Wrabness. The day from Harwich might include more time on the Stour or perhaps heading into the Orwell as far as Pin Mill.
Fully catered including coffee and biscuits, hot buffet lunch, tea and homemade cake
