Sailing Barge - S B REPERTOR
S B Repertor was the first steel barge built by Horlocks, the famous bargemasters of Mistley, on the River Stour in Essex, in 1924. "Repertor" means - discoverer, explorer, inventor, innovator, deviser - in Latin. Sail with us and help us live up to her name - discover the skills of traditional working sail; explore the rivers, creeks and backwaters of the East Coast, North Kent and the Thames Estuary; or sail up-River, thorugh Tower Bridge to the heart of The City; or hold functions in an unusual but memorable venue. Cruising Join us for daytrips, weekends or longer cruises under sail, in friendly atmostphere. You can join in and learn the traditional skills - or just relax and watch how it's done. Repertor's usual bases are Maldon, in Essex, with its historic working water-front and Faversham, in Kent, with its medieval town-centre, brewery, creeks and marshes. Both are ideally located for cruising the barges' traditional sailing areas. We can also berth in London for functions and daytrips; the Colent for Cowes Week; or the Continent for Festivals of the Sea.
Races There are 9 sailing Barge Matches - or races - every year, each in a traditional barging location, often with 10-20 barges taking part - a magnificent sight! Repertor is usually a keen competitor and was Champion Barge in 1983, 1999 and 2000. Imagine leading the fleet, driving up to windward, in a Force 4 or 5, under full sail - join us for one of the Matches! Charters and Functions Under sail, we take up to 12 passengers - as individual bookings or group charters. For quayside functions - business entertainment, exhibitions, products launches, meetings, seminars etc; and for private parties we can take up to 50 guests.
