Sailing Barge – REMINDER (1929)

Tradition has it that after the 1928 Thames Barge Match, Fred Horlock promised his victorious rivals that he would give them a “reminder” of the speed of his barges. The following year 1929, Reminder was launched at Mistley and fulfilled his expectations, becoming Champion barge on the Thames and Medway. Reminder was also one of the last barges built.

With her cargo hold now converted to comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests, “Reminder” offers you the opportunity to cruise back in time to an unhurried world governed by wind and tides. Leave the pressures of modern life ashore as you relax and explore the “secret waters” of the East Coast. On board you will find a mixture of single people, couples or friends. Enjoy communal meals but with room on deck to escape for some peace and quiet.

Join Sat 0900 to sail at 1000.
Photo collections & historical information on board. Arrive back Sunday 1200 for guided history walk, before late roast lunch on board.
